Hopewell Animal Hospital offers short-term or long-term boarding as a service to our clients. Meals are provided for all boarders, but you may bring a special diet if you would like. Any prescription medicines can be administered to your pet while boarding. We can also schedule doctor exams, vaccinations, grooming, baths, toenail trims, or other services for your pet during its stay. Half-price baths are offered to pets with a minimum stay of 3 nights. A free bath is offered to boarders staying a minimum of 6 nights (bath only, no hair trimming).  If your pet is boarding long-term, visits are permitted with advance notice during regular business hours. Your pet may be brought in and discharged during regular business hours.
We know exercise is very important to your pet’s mental and physical health. Therefore, Hopewell Animal Hospital offers a well-secured and safe yard at our kennel. Your pet will go out to exercise and play individually a minimum of twice daily. If you have multiple pets that play well together, they may be let out together.
Esther Armstrong has been the kennel manager at Hopewell Animal Hospital for over 20 years. She is dedicated to the comfort and safety of your special friend when you need to be away! Please call and make a boarding reservation with Esther at (804) 458-9521.
You may also email Esther at Leave a phone number in your email where she can reach you if necessary. Please be advised that Esther makes every effort to check her email daily during the week, but if you need to reach her directly, give the office a call during regular business hours.

  • We require your pet to have Rabies, Bordetella,  Distemper/Parvo, Flu/Bivalent vaccinations and yearly Fecals completed at least two weeks before boarding. This will ensure the safety of your pet as well as the safety of all boarders.
  • We highly recommend lepto and heartworm testing for your dog and PRC and feline leukemia vaccines for your cat prior to your boarding reservation. These vaccinations can prevent some of the most common contagious illnesses in your pet. For maximum protection, it is always better to plan ahead and get these vaccines several weeks before boarding. After the initial vaccine or series of vaccines, an annual booster will keep these current.
  • An annual wellness exam for your pet can detect many health problems before they become life-threatening. During the exam, we can test for intestinal parasites, heartworms, and other potential health risks. Our doctors can recommend one of our products to control fleas, ticks, and other parasites that can spread from one animal to another.

Make sure your pets are up to date on vaccinations to keep them safe!
